Spectacular shred shots from this past winter

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ryan @ 5:07 pm
Mikey Wier is an underground legend and a good friend of ours.  Not only is he a self-photographer specialist, but also a fishing guide and BAMF.  The other day he sent me a few of his favorite photos a friend took this last season.  Here is what he had to say:
Hey Friends,

I know it’s the middle of summer.  I just got these killer images from the wonderfully awesome Carrie Reiter though and i just had to share.  Carrie followed us out onto some burly adventures into the back-country this past winter and captured some amazing images of us getting rad.  Here’s a few of my fav’s.  i really like the one she got with the clouds in the back ground off the super duper big brother kicker at Kirkwood.  That run in is gnarly.  Thank Lib for Magna Traction. You can see more of Carrie’s work at http://www.carriereiterphotography.com.  Let me know if anyone needs any images for anything.

Also just got the trailer for First Tracks new Video “Droppin”.  I’ve got a couple slash shots in there at 2:33.  Enjoy and hope this gets you hyped up for another good winter.  In the mean time, enjoy your summer.

Cheers,

Spacecraft partnered with TSB to host a screen printing clinic at Woodland Skatepark in Seattle

Filed under: Art, Community, Events — Ryan @ 1:22 pm

TSB is a youth organization that empowers inner city youth and involving local businesses. The Service Board gets involved with their community by working with local businesses as well as mentors to show that through determination and perseverance, what you dream can turn into reality. Whether it’s becoming a chef, a printer, an arborist or a community leader, people donate their time and experience to make a positive impact.

Spacecraft set up one of its portable printing units and created some sticker designs.

“It was really cool to see the amount of people that showed a serious interest in the process and were standing in line for their chance to pull the squeegee” Ryan Davis, Spacecraft Marketing Director.

Dash Point Skimboard Comp 09

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ryan @ 12:04 pm

The results are in.  After hours reviewing footage and photography from the Dash Point Pro/Am Flatland Skimboarding Competition, we have reached our final diagnosis.  Skimboarding is SICK.  This first became apparent when competitors started popping their tricks unnaturally high, then began throwing down mad tech all over the massive slider feature built by DB Skimboards.  After we learned that skimboarders from Washington, Canada, California, and Utah made the trip to skimboard in the event, there has even been talk of a pandemic.  At this point, rollerblading and neon elbow pads may be the only cure…

Sea Sk8: Making it Happen

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ryan @ 11:39 am
To help get involved with the newest Seattle Skate Park, Spacecraft and the underground kid “Duffy”,  worked on a poster design to be hand printed.
Our good friend (Jamie) at Perch Graphics lent his space for the crew to put it all together.

Duffy took iconic images from around the city of Seattle, sans the Space Needle.

There is a lot of work that goes into a build like Sea Skate. It’s located at Seattle Center in prime real estate. Many hoops were jumped and in the end, a unique park was made that allows for multiple skaters at a time and is much different than the few others in Seattle. So, Seattle is getting to have a diverse set of parks and if you are willing to travel to the burbs… you can find something to suit your style.

Below are a few images of the print process. Enjoy:

Paul Kent: Marathon Astronaut

Filed under: Astronauts — Ryan @ 10:35 am

So Danny Way traveled a record breaking 79 ft off of a mega ramp, and yah, Rob Dyrdek did a 100 ft boardslide, but in outer space, these are minuscule measurements.  We expect greater things from our astronauts, which is why we are stoked on Paul Kent’s recent 250.4 mile skateboard record! Check out what he has to say about this amazing feat below:

I made it to Seattle and I participated in the 7th Ultra Skate, skateboarding
ultra marathon this June 21st-22nd. For some strange reason, likely self loathing on some subconscious level, I’ve always been attracted to the notion of trying to skate for a full 24 hours.
I spent the day skating through lots of rain. I did 100 Miles [2 laps] on the Burke Gillman and Sammamish Trails then a short commute over to green lake where I skated throughout the night. At 13 hours into the event I was still holding a 22kph pace with about 10 minutes per hour at 19kph. That’s when I tripped on a pine-cone and injured my knee. Subsequently, this caused considerable strain to my Achilles tendon due to my inability to bend my opposing knee. My speed was
cut in half at best but I’m stubborn. I still managed to push myself to go 250.4 Miles in 23:13 hours before calling it quits due to my injuries. A new record for distance traveled via skateboard in 24 hours. And I pushed the whole way. Expect to see me breaking my own record in the near future. I’ll be watching for pine-cones!

The rest of my time in Seattle was spent trying to coax my body to move about, purging my kidneys of blood, and meeting up with the folks at Space Craft. I got to see lots of neat stuff. Next we were off to get a Jones soda and then catch our flight back to Canada.

Big thanks to my wife Rachael, Rayne Longboards, Royal
Board Shop, Seismic Skates, the Seattle LDP gang, Space Craft and James Peters of
pavedwave.org for holding the event.

Congrats Paul!

Mike Basich: Legendary shredder, self photographer, and child of mother nature

Filed under: Uncategorized — Ryan @ 3:00 pm

Mike Basich has been shredding since it was cool to rock hockey gloves on the the slopes and to this day continues to provide us with awe-inspiring and iconic photography from his life in the powder.  He lives off his own 40-acre backyard where he built his own house from the stones on the land, and produces his own eco-friendly, hand crafted snowboards from a 400-year-old pine tree that fell in his giant backyard/playground.  Mike is truly a child of mother nature and gifted snowboarder and shows it in every aspect of his life.  He gives a new meaning to the phrase, “I want to be like Mike”.

Check out his blog for updates on his current projects, beautiful photography, and videos.
